Mentoring Program

It is the goal of UrbanPromise to provide a mentor for every child and teen in our program during the school year.

Mentoring involves:

  • Meeting one hour per week with a child or teen
  • Encouraging the child to reach their potential in academics and life skills.
  • Attending a two-hour training session
  • Commitment to the end of the school year

Mentors fill out a volunteer application, submit for a background check and receive training and regular support from UrbanPromise Staff.

Remember: Mentoring not only helps the child you mentor, but it gives you a great experience. Volunteering as a mentor requires a commitment of time and energy, but it is a fun and enjoyable way to spend your time, with the added benefit of helping others.  (from DelawareMentoring.org)
