PowerUP WorkDays are one of the best ways to serve in urban ministry!
We structure our half day service days to go from 9am – 1:00pm so it’s only a half day commitment!
Here’s a short breakdown of what you and your group would be accomplishing:
8:50 – 9:00 am You and your group arrive, meet the UrbanPromise Wilmington Staff and other volunteers joining you for your day of service kicking off at Ricks Rock (1000 E 28th St, Wilmington, DE 19802).
9:00 – 9:30 am Listen to a short introduction about UrbanPromise, how we started and a short description of events for the day. UPW Staff and interns will also introduce themselves to work with you throughout the morning.
9:30 am – 11:50 am – Divide up into teams to tackle various projects – anything from weeding the garden to stuffing envelopes for next months newsletter! Your team may have skilled individuals who have been selected to work on a particular project at one of the UPW Staff Houses, School / Office or one of our other sites. Clean up and be back to the office
11:50 am – 12:00 pm – Wrap up and clean up at each location
12:00 am – 12:15 pm – Bring your own bagged lunch and enjoy some fellowship
12:15 am – 1:00 pm – StreetLeader Panel: Hear from some of our teens who are shaping their neighborhoods
