Paddle for Promise is Taking Wilmington by Storm!

Goal: $50,000

Paddle for Promise is coming to Wilmington!  June 29th, staff, volunteers, friends and family are taking on the adventure of paddling the Christina River for about 8 miles, and ending in Wilmington.   Our very own executive director, Rob Prestowitz will be leading the way.  The teams will consist of 2-person canoes as well as 3 10 person Voyager Canoe.  They will be making the trek to support our StreetLeaders®, the job training program for teens in the city.

Kids need jobs! For urban teens jobs are commonly cited as a key tool to reduce crime and break cycles of poverty. Through our StreetLeader® job training program, UrbanPromise is the largest year-round employer of teens in Wilmington. This year we will employ of around 60 teens. These kids want to work! Their role in our Summer Camps is vital, a real job with purpose and pay.
