UrbanPromise is my favorite charity because of its proven track record of making a difference in the lives of Wilmington’s urban youth. In the worst parts of downtown Wilmington, where the average teenager can’t imagine a future bigger than the gangs and neighborhood around him, UP gives teenagers vision through its annual college tour. In an area where less than 30% of high school graduates go onto college, UP graduates 95% of its StreetLeaders, of which 75% go off to college. In the harsh streets of Wilmington, where my mentees’ brother was killed due to gang violence, UP shows God’s love for each and every one of his children. Please support me as I “Paddle for the Promise” this year, reaching for a goal of $2,000. As a longtime donor to UP, I can assure you that each dollar makes a difference.
