to paddle, have fun, and raise money for UPW StreetLeaders!

Why Do We Paddle?

We paddle to raise funds for the UrbanPromise StreetLeader Program, a leadership development program that trains teens in servant leadership and offers academic development, college preparation, community, and outdoor experiential opportunities. UPW is one of the largest year-round employers of teens in Delaware.

While we build community and raise funds together, there is also some fun, friendly competition.

1. Fastest Time (canoe or kayak)
2. Most Funds Raised (team and individual)
3. Best Costume (purely for fun!)

Individuals, churches, or businesses are welcome to enter multiple boats.  We just ask that the boat’s crew raise funds for our StreetLeaders. Last year we had over 80 paddlers who raised $115,000!

How the Paddle Works

You set up an online fundraising page and share it with your friends, family, small group, church, coworkers, and anyone else via email or on social media. This is your opportunity to share why you love the children and families at UPW and ask your network to support them! Each paddler is asked to raise $500-$1,000 (or more if you’d like!).

We will provide canoes, transportation to our launch site, and point you in the right direction! Snacks and lunch will be provided, too! All you need to do is paddle for about two hours over seven beautiful miles down the Christina River. Our goal is to have over 100 paddlers, once again, raising over $100,000!

Sat. June 8th, 7:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (Launch and End Times Vary)
