Join the Transformation Underway on North Market Street

If you’ve recently passed the 2200 block of North Market Street, you may have done a double-take!

In addition to the recent, multi- year renovation of 2223 North Market Street to house our UrbanPromise Academy (grades 8-12), we recently purchased the neighboring property at 2219 North Market Street.

We have already demolished the dilapidated building and plans are underway to design an outdoor educational space and garden — leveraging expertise from friends at University of Delaware —  to benefit our UrbanPromise students.

Our vision comes to life on North Market Street

Our goal for these two properties aligns directly to our vision: To be a community in Christ of servant leadership and transformation, seeking a full life for all involved: urban youth, families, volunteers and staff in the neighborhoods of our city.

Our Academy students and their families seek transformation through education, as we strive to offer a rigorous, Christ-centered educational experience for students from 8th -12th grade.

We provide small class sizes, one-to-one tutoring, and a well structured, safe learning environment. We also offer numerous extracurricular activities to help build leadership skills and give back to the community.

Community is key to transformation

Together with a landscape architect class at University of Delaware, 3 volunteer master gardeners, UPA students and staff, and other big-hearted volunteers, we look forward to transforming the neighboring property into a safe, outdoor space that the whole City can be proud of.

You’ll notice in our Vision statement above, that the word “community” precedes “transformation”.

Reaching children, raising leaders and restoring community requires many hands.

We are so grateful to all involved in our North Market Street projects — from those who donated construction materials, labor or design experience, to diverse corporate and church teams who provided the ~5,000 volunteer hours to these projects to date.

We need you!
